How to Prepare for a House Cleaner (and Should You Tip?)

Your first professional cleaning is booked. A few minutes of prep helps you get the most out of every minute you pay for.

Tidy living room ready for a house cleaner

Before your cleaner arrives

  • Pick up clutter. Clear counters, floors and tables so cleaning time goes into cleaning, not tidying.
  • Mark your priorities. Tick what matters most on our cleaning checklist and leave it on the kitchen counter.
  • Secure valuables and fragile items. Put away jewellery, cash and anything delicate.
  • Plan for pets. Let us know about pets and where they'll be during the clean.
  • Share access details. Leave a key, lockbox or door code if you won't be home.
  • Mention problem areas. Tell us about stone surfaces, special finishes or stubborn spots ahead of time.

Do you need to be home?

No. Many of our clients are at work during their cleaning. Just make sure we can get in and know your priorities.

What to expect on cleaning day

Your team arrives on time with eco-friendly supplies and follows your checklist room by room. Kitchens, bathrooms and bars typically take 15 to 30 minutes each. If something takes longer than quoted, we prioritize the rooms that matter most to you.

Should you tip your house cleaner?

Tipping is never required, but it's always appreciated. Many clients tip for a one-time deep or move-out clean, or give a holiday tip to their regular team. A kind review means a lot too.

After the clean

Walk through your home and tell us how we did. If anything was missed, let us know in writing within 24 hours and we'll make it right.
